10 Questions with Nia
We caught up with one of our latest graduates, Nia Griffiths to find out a little more about her. With a successful career working as a visual merchandiser, she has travelled all over the UK and further afield, flying to exciting countries all in the name of style and fashion. She sure knows her stuff!
Q1. You’ve recently completed our Personal Styling course, how did you find it?
A. I found the course very insightful. There was a lot of information to take on board but what was good is that we put the information into practice each day. So it wasn’t just about reading from the styling manual, it was hands on experience as well. Meeting members of the public with actual styling issues not models puts you in the role of a personal stylist straight away. As you learn about engagement and communicating with a client.
Q2. Why did you decide to become a Personal Stylist?
A. I’ve been a visual merchandiser for 10 years so I’ve been involved in the field of styling and fashion. I felt the time had come for a change in my career and this felt a natural progression.
Q3. How would you describe your personal style?
A. My personal style consists of 60’s influenced shapes of dresses and skirts, mixed with key season trend pieces. I’m more about wearing colour than patterns.
Q4. Where do you shop the most?
A. I shop mostly in Zara, as they seem to nail the key trend pieces each season.
Q5. What is your favourite SS18 trend?
A. My favourite ss18 trend is the Crayola colour palette.
Q6. What do you love the most about living in Bristol?
A. I love the diversity and culture scene of Bristol, there’s always something different to do each weekend. Chilling down by the arnolfini on a summers evening, is such a nice way to end the day. The food scene is amazing, it’s lucky you can walk around easily in Bristol to walk off all the delicious food!
Q7. You’ve travelled the world working with H&M, where is your favourite place that you have been to?
A. I definitely clocked up a few train and air miles travelling for H&M. I really enjoyed travelling around Canada mixing city life and hiking in the mountains with amazing views.
Q8. When you’re not working, how do you spend your time?
A. When I’m not working, you’ll probably find me in the Watershed watching a film as I’m a massive film fan. I also go to galleries, explore new places, have singing lessons and sing in a choir, and I’ve recently started life drawing again. I am partial to an evening course as I love learning.
Q9. Tell us something that not many people know about you…
A. I once walked past Damon Albarn and I stared at him so much – because he was so hot! He ended up saying hi to me as I think I made him a little uncomfortable or he thought I knew who he was. It was only when I had walked past him that it dawned on me that it was him! Haha!
Q10. i if for?
A. i is for inspiration.
