And it was all Yellow…
The sun is out (at the time of typing…) and eventually it’s starting to feel a lot more like Spring. With baby chicks, sunshine and daffodils all blooming, yellow is a colour which definitely lends itself to this season.
It is however a colour that is feared by many but there are so many different shades from pale lemon sorbet through to rich buttercup and mustard in between so there is a shade that will suit everyone! The official colour of the season as seen on the SS17 catwalks is Pantone Primrose Yellow.
How to wear yellow?
One trick if you are in doubt is to keep yellow on your bottom half away from your face but mustard will look better on the warmer skin tones while a lighter yellow looks amazing on paler skin with darker hair.
Try pairing with black and white for a striking look or if in doubt navy and white stripes are always yellows best friend.
Good enough for the Queen
Although this colour looks lighter than the pantone the Queen confidently wore ‘primrose yellow’ head to toe for the Royal Wedding in 2011 (so ahead of her times 🙂 ) She loved it so much she wore it again in Australia that same year!
Psychology of Colour
Those that choose to embrace yellow will know it’s a happy colour which creates warmth and sunshine to those that wear it and those around them too!
White, khaki and grey all work well with yellow and if you fancy just adding an easy update to your wardrobe simply try adding a yellow bag or shoes or be inspired by our pinterest board full of this wonderfully refreshing colour!
