Caroline Walton

After suppressing the desire to work in this industry for 20 years and a host of European influences that compliment Caroline’s love for fashion and people, it’s no wonder hard working super-mum Caroline has a great sense of style. The girl that was sent to school in Austrian dress – Dirndl, that likes to swim the lakes in the summer and favours the shops of South West France; Caroline tells us how she favours off-duty surf style when she’s not admiring the beauty of great British fashion.

Describe yourself in a few key words Down to earth, approachable, tenacious and stylish of course!

What brought you to become an Image Consultant? It’s something I’ve dreamed of doing for about 20 years.  Style is in my blood. My grandparents owned fashion boutiques and so I grew up watching my grandmother carefully put outfits together and walk around wafting of Channel No. 5. Unfortunately lack of confidence held me back. I think I got to a point where I decided that I just needed to bite the bullet and give it a go, rather than look back and regret not following my dream.

What do you love most about your job? Seeing that moment when a woman realises how good she looks in the right colour, outfit or pulling together a combination she hadn’t ever thought of. Seeing her face light up – that moment is so rewarding. Everyone deserves to look and feel great and it makes me happy to help.

Favourite fashion brands/designers: The list is truly endless – I love brands like Vivienne Westwood – such an iconic British designer – she really has embraced the female form. I love the way she brings UK heritage through her designs too.  I  also love the vintage inspired look of Rixo. Burberry is also a favourite of mine – is there anything more iconic and versatile than the Burberry trench? Gap and Uniqlo are casual brands that I love. They do amazing basics and Gap jeans are my go-to jean of choice. The list goes on…

What inspires you?   I’m really inspired by everyday creative, strong women who have forged successful businesses for themselves while juggling the demands of family and work. I’m also inspired by travel and nature. We have such busy lives, that I get a real sense of perspective when I’m out of my daily routine.

How would you describe your personal style? I’m not wedded to looking in a certain way or portraying a certain look. I still like to experiment, but in a few words; adaptable, edgy, classic, casual.

3 things we don’t know about you…

  • I’m a black belt in karate
  • I’m German & Austrian. I also speak French, German & Spanish
  • I can surf. Badly – but I surf. My husband is a keen surfer, so I wanted to join in rather than watch him have all the fun when we were dating. I do love a bit of dressed down surf style too!

What is your style philosophy? Take inspiration from everything around you; different cultures, interiors, the women you see on the street, books, films, social media, your friends and wear things that make you feel good or have meaning. These things will help you define your personal style. Compliment each other – I’m not afraid to boost a strangers confidence in the street, it makes a huge difference to every person.
