What brought you to become an Image Consultant?
A lifelong obsession with clothes and a knack for helping others see what makes them look and feel better.
What do you love most about your job?
Seeing someone’s face light up when they realise something they always thought would never suit them makes them look and feel great! Then seeing their confidence grow before my eyes.
Who have you worked with that compliments what you do?
I work closely with professionals, principals and executives as I offer coaching & mentoring as well as personal styling. Clients find the combination of services complement each other perfectly. I love supporting people in developing confidence on the inside and out.
What inspires you?
Creativity – watching someone make something beautiful, ingenious or useful from the small spark of an idea. People who are passionate about the things they love, no matter what anyone else thinks.
Aesthetics – in nature, design, style, colour- anything that makes my soul sing!
Bravery – seeing someone step out of their comfort zone and make a success of it, however small.
Resilience and hope in the face of adversity.
How would you describe your personal style?
Strong but feminine and spirited. As a high school head I dressed smartly, mostly dresses and jackets or suits. Now I have a more relaxed off-duty style and I know when and how to dress up or down depending on the occasion. I love dresses, they are so easy to throw on and there are so many styles and fits to suit all shapes and tastes.
Tell us 3 things about yourself we don’t know…
- I practice yoga and can stand on may head for a very long time!
- I have French roots, hence the name (Quesnel-it means little oak tree!), and am allegedly related (VERY distantly) to Napoleon.
- I graduated as a graphic designer and worked in advertising before retraining to become a teacher of art and design.
What is your style philosophy?
Style isn’t fashion, it doesn’t come and go with the seasons, it’s knowing which looks, shapes and colours make you ‘glow’. I’m a firm believer in wearing what you love again and again, shopping sustainably and finding unique buys to add individuality to your style personality that feel comfortable to wear and help you feel like YOU!
