10 Questions with Zena Whalley

10 Questions with Zena Whalley

Q1. What made you decide to train to become a personal stylist?

From as young as I can remember I always loved playing with clothes and at school I used to cover me & my friends school books in fashion designs I had created. I have always enjoyed working with people, but it wasn’t until I began working in fashion retail that I realised I could combine this with my love of all things fashion and offering help and advice with each customers outfit choices. I found The Image Consulting Company on Instagram and thought I would really love to become a stylist! I volunteered to help out on the next course as a “model” for the students to practice on. I was totally inspired by Emmeline and her passion for her business, the course and helping others achieve their dreams! And the rest is history.

Q2. What are you most passionate about within styling?

What gives me the greatest buzz as a stylist is getting to know my client and discovering the best way I can help them! Then seeing how happy, confident and open to new things they are at the end of the sessions – I wish I could bottle that feeling! I love a challenge and any excuse to shop, so styling is the perfect job for me.

Q3. What is trends are you looking forward to wearing this year?

I’m still undecided about the tie dye trend but luckily the high street are brilliant at filtering down these trends and making them much more wearable for everyday women. A trend for this spring/summer is beige! I love the monochromatic look anyway and I think beige – whatever shade – can be worn by all ages & sizes.

Putting a client in a item or colour they thought they could never wear and them loving how it looks and feels.

Always H&M and Asos, fashionable, affordable and good size ranges.

Q6. What is your favourite thing to do outside of work?

Go for coffee with my favourite magazine and Ted, my Jack Russell. I love to people watch and see how others style themselves and how I would work with them if they wanted styling!

Q7. Tell us something we don’t know about you!

I love all forms of Art and studied Photography at University.

Q8. What is your favourite thing in your wardrobe?

I think its my white Nike Air trainers. White trainers should be an essential part of anyones wardrobe! Especially heading into Spring/summer, they go with everything – a floral dress, jeans, wide leg trousers, maxi dress you name it!

Q9. What are your goals for the coming year?

To organise an event for women looking for advice on clothes, hair & beauty and health & well being.
