Exploring the World of Personal Styling: Inside Look with Lou in Our Exclusive Q&A Session;

Q: Hello Lou, it’s a pleasure to have this opportunity to chat with you. I’m especially eager to delve into the exciting new phase of your life that you embarked upon at 40. To start, I would love to know, what did you do before becoming a stylist?

A: I was a Radiographer and still am!

Q: That’s amazing to hear that you are balancing both professions.  Why did you feel personal styling was the job for you?

A: Always something I’ve had an interest in. I’ve a strong feeling that life’s too short to not feel happy in your own skin. Also enjoy the creative side to it.

Q: It’s inspiring to hear how your long-standing interest in styling aligns with your belief in the importance of feeling confident and happy in one’s own skin, love that philosophy. How does this fit in to your life?

A: It’s a tricky juggle at the moment. I’d love for the styling to be my full time job – working on it!

Q: I can imagine juggling the 2 can be challenging at times. just keep focusing on your vison and am sure you will turn that dream into a reality.  What’s the best thing about being a personal stylist?

A: The transformation in women’s confidence in themselves. I love seeing women being that bit kinder to themselves.

Q: It’s so rewarding, isn’t it? Especially when you have empowered them to see and appreciate their own beauty and worth.  What’s been the greatest challenge in your styling career so far?

A: Not enough hours in the day! I find the juggle with my other job quite tricky.

Q: Well done for sticking with it, as I know it can get really tough at times, your commitment is really paying off. Now more of a personal question, how would you describe your own style?

A: A bit edgy, a bit “London cool” (but I find that a bit cringe!!!) I like silvers.

Q: I love a bit of edgy myself!  You’re part of our stylist community, what do you enjoy the most about this?

A: I enjoy the variety of training which is made available.

Q: It’s fantastic to hear that you appreciate the variety of training available in our stylist community.  It’s great that you’re taking advantage of these opportunities to grow and expand your expertise. If you have completed any training courses with The Image Consulting Company. How did you find the training?

A: I completed the colour training and I found it enjoyable and informative

Q: That’s great to hear, providing a positive and informative learning experience is a key goal for us at The Image Consulting Company.  What advice would you give someone who was considering personal styling as a job?

A: To not expect too much too soon it takes time to get paying customers and establish a name for yourself networking and putting yourself out there as much as possible is key

Q: It’s great to hear you enjoyed the course and the on-going support is helping you in your styling career and we look forward to supporting you. What advice would you give someone who was considering personal styling as a job?

A: Go for it but be prepared for some hard work!

Q: Great advice! I totally agree, you have to persevere and put in the time and effort to really build your business.  What do you know now, that you wished you knew at the beginning of your journey?

A: That there’d be so much behind the scenes admin to do. Stuff that no one ever sees!

Q: OMG yes, from social media, marketing, bookkeeping, admin, being creative, there is lots to do! but you learn so much!  For the last question what does the future hold for you?

A: I’d hope to do personal styling full time but I’m not quite there yet.

It’s great to hear about your inspiration to transition into personal styling full-time. The journey towards achieving such a goal can indeed be challenging but immensely rewarding.
